Peter Crouch has signed with Tottenham Hotspur for a fee believed to be around ?9million.
Crouch, who recently turned down what was reported to be a ?12million move to Sunderland, has returned to the club that he joined as a trainee ten years ago.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who had previously signed the player when manager of Portsmouth, commented :
“He gives us a bit of a different option. He's different to almost anyone else in the league in terms of his size and the way he plays the game, so I am pleased to have him. We have four good strikers now.”
The 6′7″ striker will be reunited with his former Pompey strike partner Jermain Defoe. Defoe said of Crouch :
“I have always said that Crouchy is a great player and is someone who will score goals. I've played with him for a number of years and love playing with him. We've a lot of fantastic players at the club and I'm sure everyone will look forward to him coming in.”
