Burnley are still without club captain Steven Caldwell, while Manchester United's injury problems mean a likely start for defender Wes Brown.
With first choice partnership Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand injured and Johnny Evans struggling, Wes Brown will set at centre back alongside John O'Shea.
Michael Carrick looks set to start in the centre of midfield, while Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov are the most likely striking partnership. Michael Owen will have to content himself with a place on the bench.
For Burnley, new signing Andre Bikey will be in the squad while defender David Edgar is back from suspension and will start for Owen Coyle's side.
In the absense of Caldwell, 30 year old Wade Elliott will continue to deputise.
