Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is rated doubtful for his team's trip to Tottenham. Spurs, by contrast, have defensive injuries to contend with.
With centre backs Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson still not fit, new signing Sebastien Bassong will start alongside Ledley King for Harry Redknapp's Tottenham side.
Also doubtful for Spurs are midfielder Jermaine Jenas and defender Gareth Bale. Jamie O'Hara could start in the centre of midfield alongside Wilson Palacios.
Upfront, Redknapp is set to renew the partnership of Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe that did so well for him while manager of Portsmouth.
For Liverpool, Gerrard's injury means Yossi Benayoun is a likely starter, while Lucas Leiva will take up the holding role vacated by the recently departed Xabi Alonso.
Fernando Torres will start upfront on his own for Rafa Benitez' side.
While Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio and recent signing Alberto Aquilani are all out, Benitez is hopeful that centre back pairing Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel are fit again after injury.
