Everton vs Blackburn Rovers Preview

Everton captain Phil Neville will be missing for 6-8 weeks, while Blackburn Rovers have a fully fit squad to pick from.

Striker Benni McCarthy has overcome an ankle injury but is unlikely to supplant Jason Roberts or El Hadj Diouf in the starting line-up.

Also returning for Sam Allardyce's side is midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who has recovered from a foot injury.

Defender Lars Jacobsen may face his old club, Everton, but veteran centre back Michel Salgado is also pushing for a starting position.

Everton manager David Moyes may push Johnny Heitinga into a defensive midfield position to cover for the absence of Phil Neville, with Tony Hibbert partnering Joseph Yobo at centre back.

Facing a late fitness test is winger?Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, who has a groin strain.

New signing Lucas Neill joined too late to play any part in this match.
