David James returns to goal for Portsmouth after missing England's midweek match with Belarus; while Spurs may be forced to rest midfielder Wilson Palacios.
Palacios will not return to the UK from Honduras until Saturday morning after being obliged by the Honduran military government to celebrate his country's qualification to the World Cup Finals. If Palacios isn't fit enough, his place is likely to be taken by Jermaine Jenas.
Fit again for Tottenham are defensive duo Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate. It is likely that King will start with Woodgate on the bench.
Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, who missed the midweek international match with a hand injury, could start; although fellow England international Peter Crouch is also a possibility for Harry Redknapp's side.
Portsmouth will be missing on loan midfielder Jamie O'Hara, who is ineligible to play against his parent club. Hayden Mullins is a possible replacement, although midfielders Papa Bouba Diop and Richard Hughes are fit again and pressing for starts.
Left back Herman Hreidarsson will face a late fitness test, but is set for a place on the bench, with Steve Finnan continuing at left full back.
