Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy could hand a first Premiership start to midfielder Michael Kightly, while there are likely to be few changes to the Portsmouth side that narrowly lost to Everton.
In the absence of Wolves midfielder Segundo Castillo, Kightly is set to start for McCarthy's side, with Dave Edwards returning to the centre of midfield.
Upfront, Chris Iwelumo is back in training, but is set only for a place on the bench as Kevin Doyle and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake retain their starting places.
Definitely out, however, is midfielder Dave Jones, who is recovering from surgery on a knee injury.
Portsmouth manager Paul Hart will continue with Arune Dindane as striking partner to Tommy Smith after the Ivory Coast player made an impressive debut. Fellow forwards Kanu and Frederic Picquinne will be on the bench.
Elsewhere, Kevin Prince Boateng and Jamie O'Hara will continue in midfield alongside the combative Michael Brown and Aaron Mokoena.
Still out for Portsmouth are midfielders Richard Hughes and Papa Bouba Diop along with defender Herman Hreidarsson.
