Yeung Takeover of Birmingham Completed

Carson Yeung's long running attempt to take control at Birmingham City has come to an end, with the Hong Kong businessman finally acquiring the 90% shareholding he requires to bring the company back into private hands.

Yeung's company Grandtop Holdings released a statement saying :

“As at 1pm on October 6, 2009, Grandtop owned or had received valid acceptances of the offer in respect of a total of 76,620,136 Birmingham City shares representing in aggregate approximately 94% of the current issued share capital of Birmingham City.”

While Ralph Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady will all leave the club, David Gold will stay on as chairman, at least in the short term.
