Everton v Aston Villa Preview

Left back Leighton Baines could return from a calf problem for Everton against an Aston Villa side who may be missing their own left back, Stephen Warnock.

Warnock picked up an ankle injury in midweek and is set to be replaced by Nicky Shorey.

Returning for manager Martin O'Neill's side, however, will be goalkeeper Brad Friedel, striker John Carew and midfielder Steve Sidwell - all of whom were rested for the Carling Cup tie against Sunderland.

Emile Heskey and Nigel Reo-Coker both picked up knocks during that match, but both are expected to take their places on their bench for Aston Villa.

Home side Everton hope to have both Joseph Yobo and Leighton Baines back after the piar missed the Carling Cup tie through injury.

Still out for David Moyes' side are Phil Neville, Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta, Steven Pienaar, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Victor Anichebe.

Louis Saha will again lead the line for Everton, possibly in tandem with Nigeria international Yakubu.
