Stoke City FC themselves have made no statement, other than to say that they are investigating the incident.

Birmingham City vs Wolves Preview

Kevin Doyle is back in contention for Mick McCarthy's Wolves, while veteran striker Kevin Phillips is fit again for Birmingham City.

Phillips has overcome a groin injury and will be included in the squad as a substitute, with Cameron Jerome and Christian Benitez manager Alex McLeish's preferred striking partnership.

New Birmingham acquisitions Michel and Craig Gardner will be pushing for starts, but McLeish is likely to name the same eleven that has performed well in recent weeks.

Wolves have Kevin Doyle, Matt Jarvis and Stephen Ward back after the trio missed Wolves FA Cup tie with achilles, calf and leg injuries respectively.

Also returning will be goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, who was rested for the FA Cup match. He will replace Wayne Hennessey between the sticks.

Adlene Guedioura, on loan from Chaleroi, could come into the midfield for Mick McCarthy's side, with Karl Henry being the man who misses out.

McCarthy may opt to play Kevin Doyle as a lone striker as he did against Liverpool, with Chris Iwulemo and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake having to be content with places on the bench.

Everton vs Sunderland Team Preview

Mikel Arteta is in contention for a place in the Everton squad, while new Sunderland signing Matt Kilgallon could start for Steve Bruce's side.

Injuries to Michael Turner, Phil Bardsley and Anton Ferdinand mean that Kilgallon could be thrown in against Everton, despite both John Mensah and Nyron Nosworthy returning from injury.

Also back after knee and hamstring problems is midfielder Lee Cattermole, who could start in the centre of midfield for Sunderland.

Darren Bent will start upfront, possibly in tandem with Kenwyne Jones, despite rumours linking the latter with a move to Liverpool.

Everton boss David Moyes will weigh up whether to include midfielder Mikel Arteta in the squad. Arteta has spent a year out with cruciate ligament damage but made his first appearance of the season as a sub in Everton's FA Cup tie.

New loan signing Philippe Senderos will be among the substitutes with Sylvan Distain and Johnny Heitinga preferred at centre back.

Louis Saha will again start upfront on his own for Everton.

Burnley vs Chelsea Match Preview

Chelsea will be missing Ivorian duo Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou for their visit to Brian Laws' Burnley.

Both Drogba and Kalou have recently returned from the Africa Cup of Nations but Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti won't consider the pair until the midweek match against Hull City.

As a result, Daniel Sturridge will partner Nicolas Anelka in attack for Chelsea.

With Juliano Belletti and Jose Bosingwa still out, Branislav Ivanovic will start at right back, with Joe Cole favoured over Deco in midfield.

Burnley manager Brian Laws will bring new signings defender Leon Cort and ‘keeper Nicky Weaver straight into the squad.

Captain Graham Alexander has a calf injury, but Laws is hopeful the midfielder will be fit enough to play.

Also back in contention is Andre Bikey, who returned from international duty with Cameroon in midweek.
