The Premier League have ratified Benjani Mwaruwari's loan move from Manchester City to Sunderland.
The deal, which was supposed to be completed on transfer deadline day, was held up because faxes and emails sent by Sunderland to the Premier League were not received.
However, the Premier League have investigated and are satisfied that everything is in order and that Sunderland did attempt to register the deal ahead of the 5pm deadline.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce commented on his new signing, saying:
“I'm delighted that we've been able to bring him to the club. He'll bring another dimension to our striking options and will be a great addition to the squad.”
