Birmingham City vs Wolves Preview

Kevin Doyle is back in contention for Mick McCarthy's Wolves, while veteran striker Kevin Phillips is fit again for Birmingham City.

Phillips has overcome a groin injury and will be included in the squad as a substitute, with Cameron Jerome and Christian Benitez manager Alex McLeish's preferred striking partnership.

New Birmingham acquisitions Michel and Craig Gardner will be pushing for starts, but McLeish is likely to name the same eleven that has performed well in recent weeks.

Wolves have Kevin Doyle, Matt Jarvis and Stephen Ward back after the trio missed Wolves FA Cup tie with achilles, calf and leg injuries respectively.

Also returning will be goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, who was rested for the FA Cup match. He will replace Wayne Hennessey between the sticks.

Adlene Guedioura, on loan from Chaleroi, could come into the midfield for Mick McCarthy's side, with Karl Henry being the man who misses out.

McCarthy may opt to play Kevin Doyle as a lone striker as he did against Liverpool, with Chris Iwulemo and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake having to be content with places on the bench.
