Forward Craig Bellamy is missing for Roberto Mancini's Manchester City side against a Bolton team who are without defender Gary Cahill.
Cahill has a blood clot in his arm and is ruled out for the remainder of the season. Veteran Andy O'Brien looks set to take his place in central defence.
Still out for Owen Coyle's Bolton Wanderers are striker Ivan Klasnic and midfielder Gavin McCann. Johan Elmander will deputise for Klasnic, with Mark Davies in for McCann.
Manchester City may miss Craig Bellamy, who has a long-standing knee problem, for a couple of weeks. New signing Adam Johnson may replace him on the left side of midfield.
With Vincent Kompany and Micah Richards still out and Joleon Lescott only recently back in training, Kolo Toure will continue to be partnered by Dedryk Boyata in central defence.
Roque Santa Cruz is back in contention after a calf problem, but Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is set to start with Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor upfront.
