Manchester United vs Portsmouth Preview



Centre half Nemanja Vidic is back in contention for Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United, while Portsmouth may hand debuts to two new signings.

Vidic has been suffering from a nerve problem and is set to be on the bench, with Johnny Evans and Wes Brown again starting at centre back. Rio Ferdinand is suspended.

After impressing last time out, Nani could be handed another start by Ferguson, with Scholes, Carrick and Giggs completing the midfield.

Dimitar Berbatov could be recalled to partner Wayne Rooney upfront.

Portsmouth manager Avram Grant is set to hand starts to former Tottenham centre half Ricardo Rocha and new striker Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.

Back from the Africa Cup of Nations is fellow striker, Kanu, who is likely to be on the bench.

In the continuing absence of Michael Brown and Papa Bouba Diop, Aaron Mokoena and Hassan Yebda are set to start in central midfield.
