Sunderland will be without influential midfielder Lee Cattermole, while Burnley manager Brian Laws could name an unchanged side at the Stadium of Light.
After defeating Hull City 4-1 last time out, Laws is set to keep faith with his starting eleven. This means Steven Caldwell, Andrey Bikey and Robbie Blake will all have to be content with places on the bench.
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce welcomes captain Lorik Cana back into the squad after three matches out. Also back in contention is defender John Mensah, who has trained this week.
Once again, Kenwyne Jones will be on the bench, with Fraizer Campbell and Darren Bent the preferred strike partnership for Bruce's side.
