Goalkeeper Joe Hart returns for Birmingham City, while Iain Dowie's Hull City have a number of injuries to contend with.
Winger Stephen Hunt is the latest addition to those players that will be out for the remainder of the season. The Ireland international has a foot injury and has recently undergone surgery.
Also out for Hull are Anthony Gardner, Ian Ashbee and Kamil Zayatte.
Striker Amr Zaki has returned from Egypt but is unlikely to feature as he has a knee injury. Craig Fagan will once again lead the line for Hull alongside Jozy Altidore.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish will be buoyed by the news that striker Cameron Jerome will be fit enough to play, despite a niggling back problem.
Despite a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, McLeish is likely to make only one change from that starting XI with Joe Hart returning to goal in place of Maik Taylor.
This means no place in the starting line-up for Christian Benitez, who will be on the bench, with James McFadden starting in his stead.
