Fulham vs Liverpool Preview

Liverpool duo Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson are out for the visit of Fulham who are hopeful that ex-Red Danny Murphy will be fit enough to start.

Former Liverpool midfielder Murphy has been out for 10 days with a knee injury, but Fulham boss Roy Hodgson expects the player will be in contention.

Still out for Fulham are Simon Davies and Andrew Johnson, so Clint Dempsey and Diomansy Kamara will retain their places.

Left back Paul Konchesky will face a late fitness test with Aaron Hughes standing by if Konchesky doesn't make it.

WIth Glen Johnson and Steven Gerrard missing, Daniel Agger could deputise at right back with summer signing Alberto Aquilani making his first Premier League start of the season.

Dirk Kuyt will be pressed into a more forward position to support Fernando Torres.

Bolton vs Chelsea Match Preview

Salomon Kalou is rated doubtful for Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea, while home side Bolton Wanderers are set to bring back Kevin Davies after the striker was rested for the midweek Carling Cup match.

Davies will return to lead the line while the fit again Johan Elmander will be on the bench, alongside Ivan Klasnic, who scored the winner in Bolton's 3-2 victory over Everton last time out.

With Tamir Cohen and Lee Chung-Yong impressing so far, Bolton boss Gary Megson is set to stick with the same starting eleven as in Bolton's previous home game.

With Ashley Cole (ankle), Jose Bosingwa (knee), Yuri Zhirkov (knee) and John Mikel Obi (knee) all out and Salomon Kalou and Branislav Ivanovic doubts; Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to name a few changes to his starting line-up.

Juliano Belletti and Paulo Ferreira will start at full back, with Petr Cech returning to goal, having been rested in midweek.

Joe Cole may get another start at the expense of Deco after impressing in recent games with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka the preferred forward partnership.

Accountants Concerned Over Hull Finances

Auditors Deloitte have raised concerns over the financial viability of Hull City FC should they be relegated from the Premiership this season.

Accounts for the club for the period ending July 31st 2009 have finally been filed with Companies House, five months late, after the accountants raised “significant doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern.”

The auditors report read:

“These forecasts demonstrate that in order to operate within the company's finance facilities Hull City AFC will need to generate a surplus ?23million during the next 12 months through player trading, match day and commercial income and/or through additional finance raising.

“In the event that the club retain Premier League status for the 2010-11 season, the additional funding required for the 12 month period will be in the region of ?16million. This is reduced as a result of the guaranteed level of Premier League distributions that will be received.”

The club themselves were bullish about the findings, pointing out that the revenues from their first season in the Premier League would only be factored in to the next year's accounts and that the club did have “adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.”

Tottenham Transfer Rumours

Despite a report in The Daily Express that Manchester United are also interested, rumours are circulating about a January move by Tottenham for Portsmouth's Daivd James. Why? Who knows.

Other Tottenham transfer gossip suggests that Roman Pavyluchenko is on his way, either to AC Milan in some kind of swap deal involving Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Gareth Bale or to Zenit St Petersburg.

Elsewhere, it looks set that Jermain Jenas will leave the club in January, having found first team chances very limited this season.

Manchester United v Bolton Preview

Wayne Rooney is out for Manchester Utd with a calf injury, while fellow striker Johan Elamander is full fit and in contention for Bolton Wanderers.

Also rated doubtful for Manchester United is Dimitar Berbatov as the striker is still in Bulgaria following the birth of his daughter.

However, Michael Owen is fit again and is likely to start.

Back for United is goalkeeper Edwin van Der Sar, with England international Ben Foster dropping back to the bench.

Midfielder Darren Fletcher may miss out for Sir Alex Ferguson's side having picked up a knock on international duty, so Michael Carrick will start in midfield alongside Anderson.

Bolton boss Gary Megson has only one new injury to concern himself with. Defender Sam Ricketts missed Wales World Cup qualifier with an ankle problem and is unlikely to play any part in this match.

His place will be taken by Gretar Steinsson, returning to his more familiar position.

Although forward Johan Elmander is fit, it looks likely that Lee Chung-Yong will keep his place in the starting eleven after an impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

There are unlikely to be any other changes to the Bolton side that drew 2-2 with Spurs.

Ukraine vs England Preview

Despite having already qualified, England manager Fabio Capello has stressed he will pick a strong line-up for this World Cup qualifier away to the Ukraine.

Although keeper David James has been recalled to the England squad, it is thought that West Ham's Robert Green will continue in goal after some capable performances.

Elsewhere, England boss Capello looks likely to give the nod to Emile Heskey and Wayne Rooney as a starting strike partnership, with Carlton Cole and Gabriel Agbonlahor named among the substitutes.

In defence, Rio Ferdinand will partner John Terry, with West Ham's Matthew Upson dropping to the bench.

The midfield could see Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick replacing Gareth Barry, with Aaron Lennon retaining his place on the right of midfield.

Ukraine head coach Alexei Mikhailichenko has a number of defensive injury concerns. Both Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Andriy Rusol are sidelined, while a third defender - Vitaliy Manziuk - is suspended so Taras Mykhalyk gets a recall to the squad.

With five goals in qualifying so far, Andriy Shevchenko is again set to start as Ukraine captain, supported by either Andriy Voronin or Yevhen Seleznyov of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, at whose ground this match takes place.

Arsenal v Birmingham City Preview

Both Arsenal and Birmingham City have a number of injury problems ahead of Saturday's match at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal left back Gael Clichy has picked up an ankle injury on international duty and will join Nicklas Bendtner, Eduardo, Samir Nasri and Denilson on the sidelines.

First choice ‘keeper Manuel Almunia will face a late fitness test, with Lukasz Fabianski still not match fit after knee surgery. If Almunia doesn't make it, Vito Mannone could once again deputise.

An injury to Birmingham's Franck Quedrue means that Alex McLeish's side have no fit left back.

Also out for City are Martin Taylor and Kevin Fahey. However, Cameron Jerome and midfielder Teemo Tainio have both recovered sufficiently to be considered.

Jerome could start for Birmingham as fellow striker Christian Benitez has been delayed in Ecuador. James McFadden could partner the England Under-21 international in attack.

Some More Premiership Rumours

Reports in the Spanish press suggest that Arsenal and Manchester City are both interested in Barcelona defender Carles Puyol, whose contract expires the end of the season.

However, apparently Barca have a wants list of their own and included on it are Manchester City's Robinho and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas. That is, if you believe the story in the Daily Mail.

In the ‘quite likely to happen' category is a move for Spurs' Roman Pavyluchenko back to Russia and Zenit St Petersburg in the January transfer window. This too from the people at the Mail.

Elsewhere, and this is my favourite story of the day. The agent of Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda, who is allegedly a target for both Everton and Liverpool, has told Sky Sports that the player would be interested in a move to the Premier League. Hardly a surprise, that one.

Ukraine vs England Betting Tips

With England already qualified for the 2010 World Cup, it's hard to know how either the manager or the team are going to approach this match with Ukraine.

Despite all Wayne Rooney's talk of wanting to win all their qualifying games, Capello may look to experiment in the second half of the match, thus reducing England's effectiveness.

For the Ukraine, this is pretty much a must win match. They are behind Croatia in the Group and so must get a result if they are to get into the play-offs.

Unfortunately, Ukraine coach Alexei Mikhailichenko is without three key defenders (Chygrynskiy, Rusol and Manziuk) which will leave his backline vunerable to the power of Heskey and the pace and skill of Lennon, Gerrard and Rooney.

The Ukraine do have some good players, but they're not really as strong as the squad that qualified for the last World Cup Finals. Despite his trials at Chelsea, Andriy Shevchenko does still have the knack of scoring at international level and, in fact, scored when last these two teams met.

What is certain is that Ukraine will be the more motivated of the two sides and, if they win this, they will go to second in the group.

However, they are lacking real quality at the back and will be forced to attack in order to win the match. I suspect that this will end up a draw as Ukraine should come back into the match in the second half when Capello starts making the substitutions.

OTHER PICKS AND SELECTED UKRAINE v ENGLAND BETS

I fully expect England to dominate the first half but that Ukraine will come back into it through necessity and England withdrawing some big names in the second half. So I am going with England/Draw in the Half Time/Full TIme market at a very reasonable 16/1 at Bet365 - click to open account or bet now

Blackburn vs Burnley Betting Tips

In East Lancashire, this is the biggest match of the season. Apart from, of course, the return match in Burnley. As derbies go, this one is more ferocious and competitive than most. Put simply, the fans of Blackburn Rovers and the fans of Burnley hate each other.

Combine that with the fact that the two sides haven't met in years and you have a potential exciting, combative derby match.

So, what does that mean in terms of betting? Well, I'm not going to be so foolish as to predict the result (although if I had to : 13/5 for the draw at Bet365 looks most tempting).

BLACKBURN v BURNLEY BETTING TIPS AND PICKS

Blood and thunder is usually what derby matches mean and, I think, this will be particularly true of these two sides. While Burnley like to play some football, they have some steel and, of course, we all know about Blackburn Rovers physicality.

So, let's look at the booking points market - because there will be cards flying everywhere in this one.

Booking Points : 10 for a yellow card; 25 for a red card (max 35 points per player)

Stoke City v West Ham Match Preview

Glenn Whelan is a doubt for Tony Pulis' Stoke City side, while Scott Parker is missing for West Ham United.

Youngster Jack Collison could replace the suspended Parker in the center of midfield for Gianfranco Zola's side, although the fit again Valon Behrami could also fulfill that role.

Junior Stanislas is pushing to start in support of lone striker Carlton Cole for West Ham Utd in place of Zavon Hines.

Whelan aside, Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has a fully fit squad to call upon.

The Stoke manager could recall Ireland international Liam Lawrence in place of Salif Diao in midfield with Ricardo Fuller and James Beattie again being the preferred attacking partnership.

Turkey international Tuncay Sanli, who was on international duty in midweek, is set for a place on the bench alongside fellow striker Dave Kitson.

Wigan vs Manchester City Preview

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has something of an injury crisis ahead of this trip to Wigan Athletic's DW Stadium.

WIth Robinho and Zabeleta definitely out, knocks to Craig Bellamy, Kolo Toure, Martin Petrov, Joleon Lescott and Nigel De Jong could mean City are down on numbers.

Bellamy, De Jong and Petrov are the most likely to make it, but all will face late fitness tests ahead of the match with Wigan Athletic.

Micah Richards is set to start in central defence if Toure doesn't make it.

City boss Hughes may freshen up his midfield, with Stephen Ireland a possible starter after coming on as substitute during City's last Premiership outing.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez will assess the condition of a number of his international players, after long trips back from South and Central America.

Trinidad and Tobago striker Jason Scotland, Honduran duo Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas plus Columbian forward Hugo Rodallega all played in qualifiers during the week and Martinez will make a late judgement on their match fitness.

Saudi Royal Considers Liverpool Investment

Member of the Saudi royal family, Prince Faisal, is said to be considering investing in Liverpool FC, but has reservations about the amount of debt the club is carrying and the relationship between the current owners of the club.

Spokesman for his investment vehicle, F6, Barry Didato commented :

“The debt has to be at a manageable level before Prince Faisal would invest and the current level is high. He cannot be looked to as someone who is going to clean up the balance sheet - Gillett has to deal with this.”

Didato added that preliminary talks between the Prince and Liverpool owner Georg Gillett had gone well, but said :

“...he [the Prince] cannot be seen as a solution to the debt or problems in the existing relationship between the owners.”

Sunderland v Liverpool Preview

Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard are missing for a Liverpool side, while ex-Liverpool midfielder Bolo Zenden could start for Steve Bruce's Sunderland side.

Zenden, who signed a year long deal with Sunderland in midweek, could come in as left back in place of the suspended Kieran Richardson, although George McCartney would be in contention if he overcomes a foot problem.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will run the rule over Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones, who was on international duty during the week. If Jones isn't sufficiently match fit, Fraizer Campbell will partner Darren Bent in attack.

For Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, injuries to both Torres and Gerrard has caused a problem.

Ryan Babel could start in support of Dirk Kuyt, who will playing a more advanced role in Torres' absence.

Defender Daniel Agger is back in contention and could start in a three man defence.

Liverpool boss Benitez will assess South American trio Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insua and Lucas after they return from their midweek World Cup Qualifiers.

Definitely out, however, is Greek international Sotirios Kyrgiako, who has sustained a serious knee injury.? Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel are the most likely central defensive partnership.

Portsmouth v Tottenham Preview

David James returns to goal for Portsmouth after missing England's midweek match with Belarus; while Spurs may be forced to rest midfielder Wilson Palacios.

Palacios will not return to the UK from Honduras until Saturday morning after being obliged by the Honduran military government to celebrate his country's qualification to the World Cup Finals. If Palacios isn't fit enough, his place is likely to be taken by Jermaine Jenas.

Fit again for Tottenham are defensive duo Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate. It is likely that King will start with Woodgate on the bench.

Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, who missed the midweek international match with a hand injury, could start; although fellow England international Peter Crouch is also a possibility for Harry Redknapp's side.

Portsmouth will be missing on loan midfielder Jamie O'Hara, who is ineligible to play against his parent club. Hayden Mullins is a possible replacement, although midfielders Papa Bouba Diop and Richard Hughes are fit again and pressing for starts.

Left back Herman Hreidarsson will face a late fitness test, but is set for a place on the bench, with Steve Finnan continuing at left full back.

Chelsea will be without suspended goalkeeper Petr Cech, while midfielder Javier Mascherano returns to the Liverpool squad.

Cech will be replaced between the sticks by Hilario, who also played in Chelsea's midweek Champions League victory.

Returning from suspension is Didier Drogba, who will start alongside Nicolas Anelka; and right back Jose Bosingwa.

Rated doubtful for Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea are the trio of Alex, Michael Ballack and Daniel Sturridge.

However, Joe Cole is fit after a long absence, but is set for a place on the bench, with Florent Malouda continuing on the left side of midfield.

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has overcome a hamstring problem and is set to start for Rafa Benitez' side.

If the Argentine does make it, Fabio Aurelio will drop to the bench.

Defender Daniel Agger is back in training, but is unlikely to supplant Liverpool's first choice central defensive partnership of Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel.

Despite scoring two goals in Liverpool's 6-1 victory over Hull, Ryan Babel is set for a place on the bench, with Yossi Benayoun preferred in midfield to the Dutchman.

Redknapp Denies He’s Leaving Spurs

Despite a flurry of bets that caused most bookmakers to radically slash their odds on his departure, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has denied that he has any intention of leaving Spurs.

A sudden surge in betting on Redknapp to be the first Premiership manager to leave caused bookmakers to cut their odds from 50-1 to evens.

Redknapp himself was forced to comment on the story, saying :

“I'm definitely not leaving. It's absolute nonsense. I couldn't be happier. I love it here and I have no intention of leaving.”

Man United Cleared Over Pogba Deal

Manchester United have been cleared of any wrong doing over their signing of 16 year old player Paul Pogba.

French side Le Havre alleged that United were in breach of transfer regulations relating to minors, saying that they (Le Havre) had agreed a contract with the player.

However a judge appointed by football's governing body FIFA disagreed. The judge said that, as the player was a minor, it was impossible for him to agree a contract and that, as Pogba only received nominal expenses for playing for Le Havre, he was still an amateur.

A Manchester United statement read:

“Manchester United are pleased to confirm that the Football Association has been authorised by Fifa to register Paul Pogba as a Manchester United player with immediate effect.”

Wolves vs Portsmouth Match Preview

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy could hand a first Premiership start to midfielder Michael Kightly, while there are likely to be few changes to the Portsmouth side that narrowly lost to Everton.

In the absence of Wolves midfielder Segundo Castillo, Kightly is set to start for McCarthy's side, with Dave Edwards returning to the centre of midfield.

Upfront, Chris Iwelumo is back in training, but is set only for a place on the bench as Kevin Doyle and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake retain their starting places.

Definitely out, however, is midfielder Dave Jones, who is recovering from surgery on a knee injury.

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart will continue with Arune Dindane as striking partner to Tommy Smith after the Ivory Coast player made an impressive debut. Fellow forwards Kanu and Frederic Picquinne will be on the bench.

Elsewhere, Kevin Prince Boateng and Jamie O'Hara will continue in midfield alongside the combative Michael Brown and Aaron Mokoena.

Still out for Portsmouth are midfielders Richard Hughes and Papa Bouba Diop along with defender Herman Hreidarsson.

Hull City vs Wigan Match Preview

Hull City will give a late fitness test to defender Anthony Gardner ahead of the visit by Roberto Martinez' Wigan Athletic.

Gardner has been struggling with a knee injury, but Hull boss Phil Brown will wait until the last minute before making a decision.

Also back in contention is fellow defender Steven Mouyokolo who has missed the past four matches with a hamstring problem.

Elsewhere, veteran Nick Barmby has been handed the captain's armband in the continued absence of Ian Ashbee.

Barmby will start in midfield behind a likely striking partnership of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselkink and Khamel Ghilas.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has no new injury worries and looks certain to keep faith with the starting eleven that beat Chelsea 3-1 last time out.

This will mean striker Hugo Rodallega will again be partnered by Jason Scotland in attack.

Back in contention, however, is on loan midfielder Scott Sinclair, who was ineligible to play against parent club Chelsea in Wigan's last Premiership match.
