Arsenal vs Wigan Match Preview

Manuel Almunia is missing for Arsenal, while Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has no new injury worries to contend with.

Arsenal have a number of key players injured. Joining Almunia on the sidelines are Andrey Arshavin, who has a groin strain; midfielders Denilson, Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri and second choice ‘keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The relatively untried Vito Mannone will continue in goal in the absence of Almunia, while Abou Diaby will again start in midfield.

Back in contention, however, is striker Robin Van Persie, who has overcome a niggling knee injury.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is likely to keep faith with the starting eleven that beat West Ham 1-0 last time out.

Returning from injury is Olivier Kapo, but the Frenchman will have to be content with a place on the bench.

Hugo Rodallega will again start upfront on his own, with fellow striker Jason Scotland named among the substitutes.
