Portsmouth striker David Nugent was hit with a lump of wood in an altercation with teammate Marc Wilson at a hotel in Portugal.
The squad were in Guimaraes as part of their pre-season tour of Portugal. It is alleged an argument broke out in the hotel corridor, leading to Wilson hitting Nugent on the knee with a lump of wood.
Both players have been sent home and a statement released by the club reads:
“David Nugent and Marc Wilson have both been disciplined for a serious breach of club discipline. The matter has been dealt with internally and there will be no further comment from the club.”
