The Players Premiership Clubs Should Be Looking At

Typically, in the transfer window, players are linked with your club that you've never even heard of. Of course, we all Google them, watch a few clips on YouTube and pronounce ourselves experts, but really, we don't know much about them.

Would it not be better for Premiership football clubs to cherry pick already proven talent from clubs that have either been relegated, are looking to offload? or are suffering financially? Here's our round up of players that the Premier League clubs should be looking at.

Stephen Hunt - OK, we know that the Reading winger isn't the sharpest knife in the draw and he appears to have a nasty streak. That doesn't stop him being a damn fine player. He's creative, can score goals (6 in his last Premiership season with Reading), goes past people and isn't afraid of a tackle.

Someone like Blackburn Rovers, or even Everton, could use this type of player and he wouldn't be that expensive.

Benjani - A forgotten man at Manchester City and clearly someone who doesn't feature in Mark Hughes' plans.? Critics say he's inconsistent in front of goal, but before his move from Portsmouth to City in January last year, he was the top goalscorer in the Premiership.

Pompey fans loved the guy for his wholehearted style and would surely welcome him back with open arms.

Gary O'Neil - You've got to feel a little sorry for O'Neil. He was one of Portsmouth's better players before Redknapp sold him but his time at Middlesbrough has been problematic to say the least. Injuries, suspensions, family problems have all meant that Boro fans haven't seen the best of him.

Nevertheless, he's a tidy and capable player and surely someone like Bolton or Stoke would be able to find a use for him.

Dean Kiely - At the tail end of last season, Kiely was back between the sticks for West Brom and proved, once again, that he still has what it takes to perform at the top level. Surely, a Premiership club would take a chance on the veteran. He's still a great ‘keeper and would be cheap. Got to be better than Thomas Sorensen, surely?

Chris Brunt - While Fulham are apparently trying to prise Jonathan Greening away from West Brom, surely the standout performer for that club last season was Chris Brunt.

Towards the end of the season, he had got the measure of the Premier League, was scoring and creating goals and looked every inch the Premiership performer.? He's only 25, and was dangerous on the right of midfield. Plus he scored 8 goals for a club that got relegated. Well worth whatever fee West Brom would be looking for.
